Perfume

A chill breeze slithers through Sunnydale Cemetary; the perfume of grief lies thick in Angel’s nose and mouth as his eyes sketch Buffy standing watch over her mother’s freshly-dug grave.

Underneath the top note rests a base note of blood – Slayer’s blood, thrumming beneath warm skin.

Closing his eyes, he tastes it, iron-sharp and laden with power.  She had given it to him as freely as she had once given him that sunny smile.  His body grows heavy with remembrance and Angel steps toward Buffy, filled with equal parts sadness, shame, and hunger.

He can never forget what he is.

Thank you for being so considerate. Can't wait to read this when I get done.

nice work...you're good no matter what your fandom I think.

I find the spoiler dichotomy interesting...personally I want every spoiler I can get for my shows lol

I'm not a BtVS fan (despite being a huge Spike and Spuffy fan), but I can recall that scene. I think it's nice. I love your writing, I've told you a thousand times, and seeing nice a couple I don't even know a lot about, makes me love it even more.

Even considering myself a non-fan, I can sing all the songs from 'Once more, with feeling' while watching the ep or not. I SO love them. But my fav episode is 'Lover's Walk'. Spike, Spike, Spike...

I'm so pleased that your new fic-writing explorations have included shows I'm actually familiar with. *rubs hands together with glee*

Thank you for the trip down memory lane with this one too; again, it's been years since I saw the episode but I can picture the scene in question so clearly from your writing. *applauds*

His body grows heavy with remembrance and Angel steps toward Buffy, filled with equal parts sadness, shame, and hunger.
He can never forget what he is.

Really great job with the POV in this scene. From what I remember, it was focused more on Buffy in the show but it's intriguing to see it from Angel's side. Wonderful.

(Now, if I can just persuade you to write some Spangel slash... *g*)

I only vaguely remember this ep but I loved your take. You writing the character of Angel is my dream come true. :)

I loved that scene. The way she just opened up her palm and he was right there when the sun went down. You write Angel well!!!

Your drabbles are thought provoking. So true - Angel can never forget who he is.
