Wednesday Smiles
Perfect Imperfections - unexpectedbox

My smile:  Family.

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I've been posting these since December.  If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

Please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

- SciFi is running an X-Files marathon tomorrow and TNT is doing the same on Sunday. I've just recently gotten into the show so this is awesome, especially because they're some of the best episodes.

- My trip to Ireland worked out. I did a lot of shopping and even though it took longer than expected due to air traffic, I'm home.

- X-Files marathon.

- corposant reuploaded one of her monthly mixes for me and it and her other mixes are the best thing ever.

- X-Files marathon.

- Jamie Bamber is going to be in the new show Law & Order: London.

- Did I mention the X-Files marathon? ;)

We successfully survived my oldest daughters college registration with a three year old in tow, and have made it back home! Also my mother is coming for a unexpected visit, so while there was much cleaning today, I am super excited to get to see her!

My wonderful hubby...

And my first meeting with an online friend and her kids this weekend! Woot!

I will say family too. I went to the movies with my brother and my nephew and that left me super happy. And there's a chance I'll see my other brother this week because he's in town so I think that the smile will last me long this week. :D

My smile: The X-Files movie comes out Friday. I.am.beside.myself. :)

Hee :) That's my smile too - keep finding myself going gooey eyed over the MSR ;)

(Only we have to wait til the 1st of August - grrr!)

Ha, I thought I would have to wait until tomorrow, but here it comes out today, even in this small town. ;) I might go watch it tonight.

+ France is 6 days and counting away :)

+ Because of our trip, I've gotten to go shopping for some fun stuff over the past couple days.

+ Breaking Dawn comes out soon - new book to read!!

+ Music = ♥

We just put an offer on a house today and the seller accepted it! I can't stop smiling and dancing!

The scales at the gym were wrong by 4 lbs.
I lost 7 lbs since I've been on vacation - even when you account for the wonky gym scales!
Saw "The Dark Knight" today.
MLS All Star game tomorrow.

I'm such a geek, but my brand new laptop just arrived today so it's full steam ahead on my writing once I finish tweaking it to be exactly where I want it to be. Whoo hoo!

I had Indian food for lunch. Simple pleasures, yo.

It's being a hard week mostly at work, yesterday I barely could stay awake, but:

-I have changed my € into british pounds. UK is so near...
-The X-Files movie. Tomorrow. :)

So much to be happy about, and I thank you (again) for reminding me to think about the happiness in my life.

Doing very well with my health, and have even lost 5 pounds in the last month.

The Husband is at a Macchu Picchu expedition reunion in Colorado. Yesterday he went to the Cheyenne Rodeo and had the time of his life - which makes me very happy.

Spent time with The Daughter this week, and she wrote me later to tell me that she loves spending time with me.

I'm a day late, but I was excited yesterday because I got to go see the new Batman movie, which was absolutely fantastic!

Holidays!!!! And a super fun Wednesday night party with great Chinese and wine to say farewell to a work friend who has said goodbye to us because she has been promoted. We had the Oscars ceremony for her with magnificently tacky presents and speeches. Best night evah (except she's leaving.)

I must echo makd's comment above. Knowing this post is coming always makes me smile. Thank you.

My smile is family, too, but of the chosen variety. Spent a great night with My Old Man and our wonderful friend/brother, who just moved across the street from us after a decade away. Having such beautiful and funny and adorable men in my life makes me happy.

Also, an anticipatory smile for my new bicycle, which arrives tomorrow! Whee!

I'm working a half day tomorrow so I can go out to lunch and go see The X-Files! I'm so excited! I *know* I'll be smiling.

Also I've been cleaning my apartment and it feels so good to be throwing away/donating/organizing and just generally getting rid of stuff/junk/crap I do. not. need.

--two new friends, thanks to the above.
--my sister turning 20. i pray that age brings wisdom. SOME. even a little? PLEASE???
