Wednesday Smiles (roughly 7 hrs early)

There are folks on the f-list who are struggling right now.  People struggle all the time; we just don't always know about it.  Anyway, that's why this Wednesday Smiles post is going up a bit early.

If you have a reason(s) to smile, please post it.  Better yet, if you can reach out to someone else who needs a smile, please do it.  Life can be difficult, and it is so easy to feel lost, alone, and powerless sometimes.  Let's help each other when and where we can, even if all we can do is say, "I'm here, I hear you, and I wish you well."

So to whoever needs to hear it, I'm here, I hear you, and I wish you well.

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I've been posting these since December.  If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

Please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

P.S.
I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

Michael Phelps and Team USA is what will be keeping me smiling this week.

That is my favorite clip! Seeing those men react like that gave me the chills!

last night when i was leaving my brother's house, i went in to say good night to my nephew. i said, "i need a hug and kiss, babe." he snuggled into my shoulder with his sweet curly head, gave me a huge hug around the neck and patted my arm and then reared back, puckered up and gave me a huge smooch. oh there is no better smile than a kiss from your nephew. so i'm passing it on......everyone gets a kiss from enzo!

I have wonderful little fan kids. My daughter tells me the whole plots to the things she's been watching. She's 7.

My son (6 years old) now has 4 lightsaber toys and was wearing them ALL on his overalls the other day.

My kids both tell me the sagas of their LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones, and Gameboy Pokemon victories.

It makes me feel like I'm raising kids I'll have things in common with (if not necessarily doing it "right"). I'm so proud.

I can get my books for school without having to borrow more money from my mom.

Also, Husband and I had a date (with a friend along) yesterday for lunch at a Brazillian Steakhouse (where they bring you all the amazing meat you can eat). Husband said the food was almost as good as watching my religious-experience-with-the-food. *grin*

Wonderful Husband is now outside re-installing the gas tank in our car. He has saved us THOUSANDS of dollars over the years by being a mechanical genius. The tank got a hole in it from road debris and he drained it (to safe the gas), removed it, got it patched, and is reinstalling it. He's also fixing the truck's brake line. And soon will replace the van's rear brakes. I am SO LUCKY.

I'm early with this smile too, but tomorrow is the day that I'll have my holiday photos. I know a non-digital camera is strange today, but I SO refuse to get a new one, I don't need it. ;)

-My trip was great, and after it I spent two days at my friend's in Madrid. Her family is so nice, I really feel like home everytime I visit one of them. I have the best friends one can have.

-My cat had to own all my things when I got home by lying on everything and turning around. That's because my friend has a dog that did that first. Pets are surprisingly funny.

-Watching old (like there were any new one) XF episodes made me smile these days.

-Knowing that the people I know is happy.

I'm happy because I've spent a good chunk of the day talking to one of my best friends on Yahoo, she and I have both had technical difficulties with our computers lately and this is the first time we've really had a couple hours to talk in months, since she lives in England.
So I'm really happy about that, nearly giddy ;D
*hug*
Hope your ultrasound goes well!

In a moment of very childish humor, this made me not only smile, but also laugh out loud...

Flying Turd Escapes Museum Exhibit

Sorry, but I felt the need to share. :D

I have discovered my new favorite snack food:

Jalepeno Smokehouse flavored almonds.

Spicy and low carb! MMMMMmmmmmm.

That's my simple pleasure smilie for the day!

Reason to smile: The electricity is back. \o/

Just watched Standing in the Shadows of Motown - and that brings miles and miles of smiles. :-)

::hugs::

1. A good night's sleep! It seems this cycle of insomnia is almost over.
2. A nephew got married over the weekend - everything went well.
3. Fresh blueberries on sale - my sister made muffins. yum.
4. Mahjonng Alchemy. My sister is now addicted. [insert evil laugh here]

Hubby finished in the job he HATED with a passion on Friday and started the new position he wanted this Monday. That's my smile for the week :)

I am continually thankful for how lucky I am to live where I live and have what I have and for my health and that of my family... but thank you for reminding us every week :)

Perving over the Olympic swimmers is making me smile. *grins sheepishly*

I accidentally punched my husband in the eye. The part that's making me smile there is not being able to tell anyone how it happened without oversharing. "How'd you manage that?" "Er ... moving on."

I am majorly sleep-deprived and a little delirious. But lookit my icon! Isn't he yummy? (Lost it, I have.)

Wednesday is the only day I allow myself to buy coffee from Caribou or Starbucks...it's sooo delicious.

Also, Redskins Season Tickets. I can barely contain my smile...

14 hours of overtime this week for doing very little additional work.

1. Britain winning gold medals at the Olympics.
2. Football starts on Saturday, so this may be my last chance to smile about our chances this season.
3. Ruud Gullit couldn't hack it in L.A. Ha! I am not surprised.

I went to the mall today. :)

I also went to see my new school, and had a geek fit. It's so shiny and big and wonderful and oh so better than my old school.

Those are my smiles.

Although I appreciate the male form, I am not much of a fangirl - biceps really only make me drool when they are attached to young men who spend 6 hours hiking 50,000lbs of my accumulated junk up three flights of stairs! First move in 14 years, and finally back to the ocean.

When I am not in floods of stress-tears, I am smiling!
