Wednesday Smiles
Perfect Imperfections - unexpectedbox
My smiles:

1.  The beautiful people who helped me feel less morose yesterday.  *hugs them all*  Thank you.
2.  I made breakfast for dinner last night -- blueberry pancakes.  They were damn good. :)
3.  I feel like baking, so tonight I'm going to make whole wheat pumpkin bread or blueberry muffins.
4.  Every day is a new day.  Kinda neat, no?

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I've been posting these since December.  If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

Please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

- The fact that I can't see my feet when i look straight down

- instant decaf coffee.

- thinking smart thoughts for my Thesis and actually getting them down on a page.

- The fact that I can't see my feet when i look straight down

Not too long now, right? *g*

Congrats on the thesis ideas!

I learned how to make vegan pancakes last weekend, they were great, but I never thought of mixing them with blueberries, or any other fruit ending in -berry. I'll try. ;)

These are being hard days, I have a terrible pain in my neck and right arm that lasts for almost a week, and despite of that I have been going to work normally, and now I just realized that I lost my fav sunglasses, a great day... I feel like cooking too when I'm a little down.

-The tasty and yummy lentils I made yesterday for today. Hey, and the grapes I'm having for dessert. ;)

-Bones today/tomorrow.

-I went to the dentist some days ago. She was happier than me about the braces, she's optimistic and that's great. I just want to get rid of them soon.

I hope you're feeling better today. *hugs*

G., definitely try the pancakes with fruit sometime. Berries are good, but so are chopped apples with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Some ppl like banana pancakes, but I'm a little iffy on bananas in general. And if you want to be truly decadent, mix in some vegan chocolate chips. :D If you're ever in Maryland, I'll make you pancakes.

BTW, how long have you been vegan?

So sorry to hear about your arm/neck pain. :( Is this related to the Raynaud's? Hope the pain eases soon... Have you tried using a heating pad?

I love lentils and grapes. Not together, of course. :P

Good luck w/the braces.

Thanks, sweetie, I am feeling better today. *hugs you back*

-- you're having a better day!

-- I'm wearing a print top, and I don't usually wear prints so I was feeling a little irrationally insecure about the possibility of looking silly or fat or something like that -- and I walked into my office and my coworker immediately said "you look nice today" -- I almost hugged him. It made me smile. So thus -- my smile.

I have lights... my computer back... cold food... and the ability to make the cold food warm... or hot even.
It's the little things, that when they're gone, you realize just how much you take for granted.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those (especially in Texas) effected by Hurricane Ike.

*hugs you*

Glad you are back up and all well :)

1. You feeling a little better - yay! :)
2. My jobshare partner being a lovely woman who really shares the workload with me and is fab :)
3. Meeting up with bertie456 ... we've set a date, LOL! She's coming to visit me 27th of Sept, yay! :)
4. This song: Smilin :)

So cool!! I might meet geezbones in a few weeks too. She promised to call when she's in town.

* Pizza-and-Beer with the boys last night.

* My pretty new silver necklace that makes me feel girly.

* Sticking to my resolution not to work as much overtime.

* Good friends.

All great things, witchy. BTW, how is the red lipstick working for you? It's fun to try stuff that's out of our usual routines.

Glad to hear you are in a better emotional frame of mind today.

Me? I'm moving into my NEW HOUSE next week! That makes me smile, until I remember all the packing I have to do, and the painting in the office that I'm trying to finish, and the remodeling that's happening, and then I get a little nauseous.

- simply being off today
- finally having a day to sleep in (& get rid of the nagging headache from the lack of sleep from the past few days)
- grocery shopping (yes i'm excited to go do this, food!)
- just watched David Boreanaz on 'The Bonnie Hunt Show', the man is such a goof ball

- glad you are feeling better. i've been meaning to email you, so be on the lookout.

Reasons to smile...
-Yesterday was my birthday, and I had such a wonderful day...and the many lovely people on LJ helped with that!
-Today is Wednesday...BONES!
-Tomorrow (Thursday) is the premiere of season 4 of Supernatural (my other obsession).
-After hurricanes Gustav and Ike, it looks like the weather might hold up for a while. The temperature has dropped to the upper 60s (as opposed to the upper 80s/lower 90s), and it feels great outside. Yesterday and today have been beautiful days!

- you feeling better
- booking my skiing holiday
- going out for dinner with a friend
- having an episode of Bones to watch later

1. my physical went well today
2. work-out went well - even the running
3. a Bones fic I like has finally updated

Glad you are feeling better.

Bones is on tonight!

I had a field trip today to the National Shrine in Washington D.C. We got lost many times but it was a lot of fun. :)

While my week has been thoroughly awful,

+ I have a beautiful, kind and comforting Mister who gives good hugs and doesn't freak over random weeping, and

+ the last gasps of summer here are spectacular, and I'm taking some time to enjoy the sun.

I may have to steal your blueberry pancake idea, too. I have some berries that need eating, and they sound like perfect cheering up food!

Sorry about the awful week, but hey, that means things can only get better, right? *sends you a hug*

Yay for good men and beautiful weather.

Definitely make blueberry pancakes! They are very tasty -- and blueberries are so good for you. :)

+ You're feeling better today :)
+ Soccer practice tonight, which is almost always a plus.
+ Bones tonight!!
+ Finally figured out what my senior project will be for school (and let me tell you, I think deciding is the hardest part-I am horrible at choosing between many many things) ;)
