Hi! / Wednesday smiles a few days early
Booth Eyebrow Waggle
Lots to write about after an absence from LJ and the Intarwebs. But in a little while I'm meeting with a prospective pediatrician for the not-yet-here baby, so this is going to be short. I have so much catching up to do, but I'm looking forward to it. I missed you guys. :) How are y'all doing?  Any memorable holiday moments, bad or good?  Did you eat some fantastic food, or make some resolutions, or just refrain from murdering various relatives?  Tell me how you're doing.

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since last December. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)   Actually, this time it's Monday for a change. *g*

And yes, I know it's not Wednesday, but lots of folks are back at school or work or are just going through post-holiday withdrawals, so Monday smiles it is!

Happy belated holidays to you and yours, lerdo. I hope you were all healthy and warm and happy.

My smiles are:
+ my brother and sister came to visit over the holidays, so three-quarters of my siblings were together for the first time in far too long. Whenever we're together, I am always struck by the fact that, in spite of how different we all are, my siblings are really interesting and funny and good people, and I'm happy to know them as adults.
+ my friends' daughter had her first birthday yesterday, and I will get to celebrate with her next month.

Thank you very much, my dear. And warmest belated holiday wishes to you, too! :)

Your smiles are real and beautiful. Thanks for sharing them.

My Wednesday Monday smiles:
+ Playing catch-up on Labsquint's Firestorm
+ sushi date with my sisters
+ hearing about the f'list's holidays over the last few days. It's been so fun to see everyone back on here (and to be back myself) after our little break :)

Hope your meeting with the pediatrician goes well!

Hi there! Those are all good reasons to smile. :)

And thanks; we had a list of three potential pediatricians to interview, but the first one seemed so great that we're just going to go with her. It's really nice when things work out like that.

It's nice to hear from you, girl. :) Here I go:

- Not having to work tomorrow. And with January 6th, Christmas is officially ended. Yay!!
- The cute t-shirts I bought today for both my niece and myself.
- There's still daylight when I go out from work at 6pm.

Have a good week.

*hugs and hello to you* :) I feel like I may have an email from you that I need to respond to, but I'm not sure. *adds to to do list*

I'm glad you had multiple smiles that week! Your tidbits about your niece always give me the warm fuzzies. :)

Watching a longtime LJ friend marry her longtime boyfriend, and the smile on her face when it was done.

Oh, that's lovely. :) Congrats to your friends!

Welcome back; you've been missed! (((hugs)))

My smiles:

*Monday smiles. Seriously needed them today.

*Had a lovely Christmas day at my cousins and then lounging at home by the fire.

*I got some nice new shirts, which I've been needing, and the necklace I really wanted.

*I'm actually making some progress the cross stitching project I'm working on; it's been slow going.

*Though it was a re-run, Big Bang Theory made me laugh so hard tonight.

ETA: *My new LJ layout.

*hugs you back* Thank you! :)

What a perfect list of smiles. I'm really happy you found multiple happy things that week.

happy holidays!!

my smiles~ reconnecting with my extended family, discovering the joy of noise reducing headphones, and chatting with a friend about a tv show we both love.

Thank you! I hope yours were warm and wonderful. :)

I ♥ your smiles.

What made me smile is I posted a fic I had been working on and off on for two years! I am so pleased with it and so glad it's finally finished.

That's a fantastic accomplishment and reason to smile. Congratulations!!!

Hope your holidays were good Lerdo! And that you aren't freezing your bum off. It's still toasty here in Florida.

My smiles...
- my holiday paycheck I get this week
- new icons i've been collecting
- shows starting back
- moving in less than 2 months! stressful but hopefully a good thing in the long run.
- having great lj friends

Thank you. My holidays were great; I hope yours were fun and relaxing, too. :)

Good luck with the move, when it happens.

OK so I started my new job yesterday - more admin at the uni, but in a different department and I was getting the tour and meet and greet thing, and was introduced to a 40-something academic and the very first thing she said to me was, "Anytime you need a break, come down and commune with David." And points to her David Boreanaz calendar, taking pride of place on her wall.. lol. I was like, 'Uh - yeah, actually I love David Boreanaz' and she said 'Well get in line behind me and Sue on the 4th floor."

Very funny, it made me smile all day :)

How does that having a specific paediatrician for your kid thing work then? We don't do that over here. Is it to do with the way your medical stuff is organised? I guess we take the NHS for granted sometimes.

A day late, but here are my smiles:
*smiling at my boyfriend to try and lighten him up when he looks overly serious (which is all the time).
*talking to my mom on the phone for 45 minutes about why she's awesome.
*writing pithy notes to my boyfriend's roommates on the whiteboard on the fridge.
*contemplating a picnic lunch followed by an arts and crafts project with my younger sister.

Hope your meeting goes well. My pediatrician as a child was awesome, he had tiny stuffed animals hanging from his stethoscope. There, theres another smile, thinking of Dr. Lazoff.
