The feedback's a lot more positive than last night. Much more than I anticipated.

And how are *you* feeling about it Leah?

They're mixed. The ending definitely floored me, but the amnesia can't possibly last longer than a few episodes, if it is in fact amnesia. I don't like the twist, but after getting over my initial anger I've decided to like the first part and not even think about the second. I think it was low to lie to us and let us go in with hopes that were naturally gooing to be shattered.

I did sincerely love the rest of it though. I loved how fun and light it was. For the first time in ages I cared about the mystery and was intrigued by the plot. I loved seeing all the characters as well. Booth and Brennan were hot and adorable, AU or not. I never really expected them to hook up for real so I enjoyed all the cute moments anyway.

I loved what it all said about Brennan: writing about her and Booth making love, being married, having children etc. She really does seem to have come to terms with love which made the ending all the more heartbreaking.

So yeah, overall first 97& - A- and last 3% - D-

I am sticking to my guns about him not having amnesia, just disoriented.

Oh, I hope you're right... either on this point or that if it is amnesia, that it won't last too long. Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a well-written arc that includes the amnesia and the ramifications of Brennan finally realizing her feelings just as Booth has forgotten his. But... the likelihood of getting that kind of thoughtful contemplation is not very high.

Not that I'm complaining really, I mean, I continue to love the show, even with the changes and the edging toward lighter hearted Rom/Com... but... with that direction in mind... I feel that exploring something with the kind of depth that would do justice to that premise... might be a little too much to expect.

However... having watched the episode numerous times now.. I find myself more and more charmed by this version of B&B and more hopeful that even the ending was done with a very specific purpose in mind. I think that they would like to explore a different dynamic for the couple, even for just a little while... and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do that.

Of course, I could also be totally wrong about all of this and next season opens to find that this has all been addressed off-screen during the summer and we're back to the same old same old. *sigh* I hope that's not the case.

The fangirls are out in droves. They're mostly loving it. It's really rather odd but I guess we spoiled everyone last night and Leah is right -- they walked in with low expectations so it doesn't seem quite so shocking?

I don't know if I'd saw low expectations per se, but knowing that nothing turned out the way it was promised.

I'm really glad that people like it.

Unspoiled hubby wasn't so forgiving... he didn't like the AU part. Unspoiled so he wasn't expecting real!sex... and he liked Amnesia!Booth and the impact that this will have re: Brennan accepting her feelings just as Booth has forgotten her.

My dh was the other way around - enjoyed the AU and hated the end! LMAO!

I guess I shouldn't think that is all that weird, being that all of us seem to be having so many differing opinions on it!

I will say that as of his second watch, he is also enjoying the AU much more... seeing the lightside of the characters and such. But he still thinks that the ending was AWESOME and will provide some great stuff for next season... as long as they don't completely brush it all under the rug like they did with last season's finale. Ugh.

*hopes he's right hopes he's right*

:)

How did you spoil everyone? I wasn't spoiled. Are you talking about people on the Bones, Fox.com site? I'm confused. I loved the show, every second of it. I immediately knew what was going on, but I still loved it. I was watching, so I saw the end. I wish I'd recorded that, too. If it had happened any other way, I think the show would have been done for. They have to keep them apart in their real life; at least for a long time.

We Canadians saw it a day early and the post on 206_bones was read by a lot of other who weren't seeing it until after that. So a lot of the issues that contributed to our shock factor were known by the time they actually watched it themselves.

This is one point I'll never agree with you on. Their maintaining the sexual tension can kill it at the same time as it gets to simply be the same old-same old. Fans are getting tired of the will they/won't they. It's been that long time you talked about; it's been four years. It's time to pony up, Hart...
