Wednesday Smiles (a day late)
Be Happy
Ack!  I forgot to post Wednesday Smiles yesterday.  So here they are, a day late.

My smile:  the gorgeous people here who listen, commiserate (and give good advice when it's appropriate) when I'm tired or disappointed or just trying to get my footing as a new mom.  You're the best; I mean it.  Thank you.

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since last December. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)

I'm not done yet (which is not a smile), but I have put in 35+ hours grading (not all focused and intent) in the past week...and the current result is that I "only" have 22 papers left.

I have done SO much grading and talking to parents and recording of grades and I am VERY proud of my diligence and industriousness.

Also, my kids are HELLA cute lately, and my son is suddenly--independently--on a kick of brushing his teeth and taking very good care of them!

i got all my students to their end of year exhibitions (oh my god the nuttiness of that for online students!) and was given super-positive feedback by other teachers in the building so go team me!

It's a good day at work. That's my smile. :)

I'm not very good at advicing, but I am at listening. ;) Anyway, whatever worries you, here we are, you know it.

This week is being hard for me for something that I may post later in my own journal (I need to get this out), but what is helping me is baking. I bought a few days ago a muffin maker and I can't stop baking them.

Oh, and Fringe season finale that I watched recently. I think that Fringe and Lost are the only season finales that I *really* liked.

Have a great week. *hugs*

Well, I think my f-list has made me smile the most this week! But I also have tWo little ones, and they are a never-ending source of joy/amusement/frustration!

I leave you with my biggest smile moment, courtesy of my son Henry...

He's on the potty, doing his business...

"Mommy LOOK! My poo poo's heavy like a dump truck! LOOK AT IT! LOOOOOK AT IT MOOOOOOOMMMYY!!!!

Let's see... It's been a while since I've had a good, enjoyable, happy-to-be-me smile, but I think I've got one.

I'm enjoying myself so much doing this and I finally look at myself in the mirror (all stocky 5'2" of me) and say, "I'm an athlete" and that makes me smile.

Today's smiles are because everything is going well for me and my family.

I'm also smiling remembering the photo of your beautiful daughter you posted yesterday.

Today a student thanked me for subbing for them.

that is SERIOUSLY worth a smile!

Mine is school is finally finished here! Reviews are done, paper work is done, power point slide show of doom is done. It's my frown also, since I have to say goodbye to my babies and send them off to kindergarten! *sniff* There was much crying today too! BUt two more days of inservice and I am done for the school year! *fist pump*
