wednesday smiles
My smile: I'm going to have come back and edit this. Just wanted to get this post up.

Please tell me what's made you happy or grateful lately. ♥ The world can always use a little more sunshine. I see a lot of you lurking here; don't be shy. Feel free to share something, even if you never pipe up again. :)

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since December 2007. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)

One of many things that made me smile this week, in fact today, was my two year old calling me to join in the fun with him, his brother and his dad. It was just a cute moment, i know corny but still cute! lol

I just smiled because I didn't know what day it was until I sat and thought about it. You have no idea what that means to someone who lived her life by a timetable for 30 odd years.

The new underwear I was able to buy thanks to an ann summers (I will ALWAYS think of Buffy when I go into that store) voucher my fiance gave me for V-Day.

Every single person I spoke to today at the hostel was relaxed and friendly, which was a nice change :0)

Today brought another part in the damned neverending WIP story of AWESOME that tempertemper was evil and turned me onto that's full of trauma and angst and a truly excellently-developing author.

My small people and I will get to sleep together tonight.

Ooo, can I ask what fic you're reading? I usually love TT's recs. =)

Cheri Goodman's "By Any Means Necessary". It has been repetitive and dragged in places, but she's writing it as she goes without a beta and, well, that's the nature of such a beast.

My biggest gripe is with the commenters who are like, "POOR, POOR BOOTH!" when it's BRENNAN who was kidnapped and assaulted. I keep trying to nudge in the comments that, um, Booth's experience sucked, yes, but Brennan's SUCKED MORE and Booth's prettiness to the straight girls doesn't change that.

Thank you! I'll have to check that one out. I need a good fic to keep me occupied during this hiatus! =)

It's a POV nightmare in many ways, but, again, it's a WIP and I'm reading it as such.

Another one, if you're okay with the subject matter (READ the author's notes/warnings), that's a WIP but also well-written and complex, is BlueMuriel's "The Suspects in the Suite".

My smile for the week: I made plans to get together with two of my coworkers this weekend, which is always fun but we don't do very often. I'm looking forward to our Dorkfest--watching The Office and Napeoleon Dynamite and pigging out. =)

my friends. in all forms.

I recently acquired (?) a pen pal who lives in TX and in the last week we've written so many times...it's like we talk on the phone every day. seeing his letters is so much better than seeing a bill. sometimes there's 2 letters in one day. that's awesome. I love it.

I'm thankful that I'm almost done with this cold. (I forget how wonderful it is to be healthy until I spend a week coughing until my head hurts.)

Also, I am thankful that I remembered to renew my driver's license, and that it wasn't busy when I was there.

My cousin Rebecca called and told me today that she and her hubby just found out they're expecting their first child in October!!! :D :D :D :D

-Once I get through this week, only 2 more papers to go and 3 more weeks of essay writing/re-writing!

That, and

-My birthday is this Friday! :)

are the only things keeping me chugging through what has been a very stressful couple of weeks of school - and it seems never-ending, unfortunately. But those two things manage to make me smile :)

P.S. Oh, and of course, the awesomeness that was Kris, Adam, and Allison all together again (they sang Crazy as their encore at this concert, and they looked so adorable I wanted to go squish them all in a big hug and then hang out for several hours because you just know that hanging out with them would be TONS of fun)! Makes me giddy with happiness just watching how much fun they're having ♥

I officially don't have the flu. Just a virus. I guess that's a yay item.

When I got home from the doctor, I had grabbed a thermometer to check my temperature. Junior, the smallest but oldest pup in the house, gave kisses to me and it. :D Too cute.
