Ephemera

Booth doesn't drag her to lunch anymore, warm hands sliding her lab coat from her shoulders while she mouths a protest that he realized long ago is half-hearted.

They don't clink glasses at the Founding Fathers, legs brushing, alone, except for the company of strangers.

When he looks at her, she has the unsettling feeling that he doesn't see her; she wants to grasp his jaw and say, "Look at me. Me."

But partners don't do that. Except they did. Before.

Before everything changed and she discovered the paradox of missing someone who is standing right in front of you.

...she wants to grasp his jaw and say, “Look at me. Me.”

Ouch - that's totally how I feel she's feeling right now.

*weeps*

This is cathartic. I know.

Noooo, I am enjoying the angsty looks into their heads too much. Heh. *playing evil devil's advocate* The show isn't giving that nearly enough right now. Just think: if we get into their heads, then she can get them together for us!

Oh yah... this hit the nail on the head. Wonderful, angsty, this is IT.

Gorgeous and spare.

Thank you.

You are so good at these word pictures.

oh, the angst!

I am almost relieved that Fox is boycotting our cable network.

You are the master at saying so much in so few words. I just adore these pieces, angsty as they are. Particularly this line: she discovered the paradox of missing someone who is standing right in front of you.

Oh Brennan! This is fantastic and heart wrenching! Lovely :)

So gorgeous. She breaks my heart, and you show her in exactly the way that is just *achingly* sad.

ahhhhh fabulous. i feel like thats how she would experience it.

It's the things they won't/don't do anymore that stood out to me when I thought of a 100-epi-tag. You capture this shift beautifully here.

...missing someone who is standing right in front of you.

Oh, break my heart. These two. *sigh*

*sniffles*
very realistic and heart-crushing, as brennan would say. le sigh.

I know I already reviewed this at FF.net, but I just want to tell you that your writing is so evocative for me. I can feel the lab coat slide off my shoulders, and her the low din of the bar as you describe it. Beautiful ♥
