Book Group: The votes are in!
Our first selection is: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, with 4 votes.  I read it a few months ago and was totally blown away by it; I'm excited to reread it, and I hope all of you who plan to participate will find something interesting and/or enjoyable in it as well. :)

Re: timing, I know Thanksgiving, NaNoWriMo, and NaBloPoMo are coming up, and then there's Hanukkah, Christmas, etc. The ever-so-lovely iam_space suggested an early December deadline so we don't hit the holiday crush. How does December 13th sound as a start date for discussion of the book?  Or is an earlier or later date better for many of you?  You can respond to to this post.

Now that the book's been picked, please humor me one last time and drop me a line on this post to confirm your interest in reading and discussing The Book Thief.  When we discuss the book, I'm going to lock and filter that post(s?) in order to give everyone privacy. You never know if personal topics will come up in the course of a book discussion, and I want people to feel comfortable speaking freely. I will post unlocked, unfiltered reminders for future books so that people who didn't join in this time will still have the option to join in with future books. (Assuming this goes well. ) *g*

Whew. Hope that all made sense. Let me know if you have ANY questions or concerns, and happy reading, friends!

Looking forward to it. I haven't read the book before so I'll look for it while I'm out today.

PS - Thanks for not doing this in November, because I'm pretty sure I just would have died. (Nano is gonna kick my butt this year. lol)

I've requested the book from the library, so hopefully it'll arrive soon. I'll take it as a good sign that all copies were checked out. :)

I have the book! Whether I have time to read it is more problematic, but I am going to try.

The date works well for me, and I've got a copy of the book just sitting in my nightstand! Very much looking forward to this discussion!!

I'm in as well, and I'm definitely looking forward to the discussion, thanks!

I'm in!

Smart thinking on the timing, 13 December is fine. Will parallel read for my RL book group, but that's not a problem as I've always got a few books going, I'm a bookoholic ;)

Thank you for setting this up ♥

I'm in! I read my library's well-worn copy over the summer and have wanted to add it to my collection. This is the perfect excuse! Thanks for doing this.

Hey, I was thinking maybe it would be easier to create a free comm for the group. You can limit it to invitation only membership and lock it so only can members can see it.

Just thinking.

(I'm going crazy. Less then 2 hours to NANOWRIMO)

Sounds great - looking forward to it! :)

I love this book! I'm due for a reread if I can get my hands on a copy.

Ooh, I'm excited! Sounds good, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and start reading!

My copy of The Book Thief is on loan to my bf mum but if I can get it back I shall re-read. Otherwise i read it recently so will def partake in the discussion. :) It's an amazing read so I hope I can fit in a re read. :)

Thanks again for doing this book club. ♥
