Wednesday Smiles
If you have it in you to do so, please tell me what's made you happy or grateful lately. The world can always use a little more sunshine.(If it can't I definitely can!) I see some ppl lurking here; don't be shy. Feel free to share something, even if you never pipe up again. :)

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since December 2007. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)

Spent yesterday evening with a close friend, just wandering around the mall and window shopping and chatting and we had a great time.

Things that made me happy this week:

-Rizzoli & Isles (Gayzzoli!)

-Finishing the third section of my fic this morning. FINALLY.

-Having a job interview today. Not sure how I did, but at least I went!

At dinner at a restaurant the other night, I noticed two little girls (maybe aged 5 and 7 or so), sitting with their grandparents, eating ice cream cones. They were blissfully unaware of how much joy they were spreading, simply being involved in enjoying their ice cream.

Took a walk at lunch today with a friend and co-worker. Sun was shining, a little humid, but not as bad as it's been. Very enjoyable.

I went out shopping with the girls yesterday and had the perfect day:
* Fletcher Henderson on the CD player in the car
* 1 and 1/2 hours for morning coffee with refill and chocolate cherry coconut slice
* shopping where I actually bought something frivolous for myself
* leisurely late lunch
* free onions from Debra
* Fletcher Henderson on the drive home
* back at 5.45 to reflect on the glories of friends

Today I:

Was recced on bones_ga "What are we reading Wednesday". *blushes!*
Helped a coworker set up her router.
Found the next book in the book series I'm currently loving (Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich) which is hard to find. :)

I've stolen your smiles idea a bunch of times on my journal and it's always been a good pick me up. :)

It's nice to see you 'around' again and I hope things are getting easier for you and yours. :)

*hugs* I missed these :)

It's a really pretty day outside. It's sunny and a little breezy and the kind of day that makes me glad to be alive.

-Wine tasting with my sister and her bff yesterday

-Falling in love with a new show and being inspired to write fic again

-New craft projects I'm excited about :)

-Words with Friends

i have missed these too! :)

this week has been a trainwreck - my dad's best friend's wife (K) and her mother were both killed in a car accident and we had 3 days worth of funeral stuff. BUT. In spite of all of that, we are so so so blessed.

I made one of K's favorite recipes tonight and when i put it in the freezer it was like a hug from her. which was the best hug this side of my mom's.

two wonderful date nights with my best guy friend, one topped off with a heart to heart whilst sitting on the garage roof at my mom and dad's house and a couple sweet kisses. :)

my mom and dad sold their house and moved into the newly built one - old house sold in 3 days. wasn't even officially on the market yet.

i got a promotion.

my mom and i both have decided K is working her fingers to the bone for our good fortune - wherever she may be.

- I am in London right now on vacation. Loving the city though we've hit a lot of touristy events. I badly want to travel around Europe a lot more.

- My brother is safe in Afghanistan. His base was attacked over the weekend but he is fine. He actually stood outside and smoked a cig while under attack. A little ruthless.

- I go back to school in 10 days. I miss it a lot.

I got you back on Twitter again just lately.

I finally got a chance to clean my camera lens, which was so dirty it looked like a camel spat on it.

I did not get lit up by the insane electrical storm we had this evening.

Had another cooler-than-normal August day. Did not melt.

Still believe in Buffy and Angel.

I started a new job this week, I have worked with adults with developmental disabilities for over a year now and I love it, but starting a new place is always scary. Well it makes me smile just to see how much people who get look down on everyday can love someone new without question. I have a girl in my class and she doesn't really speak but today she spent most of the day holding my hand and every now and then she would kiss it, which is her way of showing love. I wish I could be the kind of person some of them are.
