Wednesday Smiles
Funky Chicken
I can't believe I haven't done one of these posts since August 2011 (!?). (Actually, I CAN believe it; two kids have sucked the time out of my life. ;) )I can always use a reminder to focus on gratitude and good things, so this is me, trying to restart a healthy habit.  Let's try something a little different, too, though, if you're up for it.  Because I've been so scarce online, I'm a bit disconnected from you all.  If you have the time to do so, please tell me how you're doing.  Besides what's made you smile recently, what's occupying your time and head-space?  Are you excited about anything particular?  Anxious?

My smiles:

1) Kid giggles -- children know how to laugh -- really laugh -- especially when they're being tickled.

2) From Season 4 of Arrested Development: "Hello, darkness, my old friend" playing in the background as GOB gazes off into the distance.

Miss you all like crazy. <3 (It's been so long since I've posted regularly on LJ that I can't remember the code for a heart!)

If you have it in you to do so, please tell me what's made you happy or grateful lately. The world can always use a little more sunshine.(If it can't I definitely can!) I see some ppl lurking here; don't be shy. Feel free to share something, even if you never pipe up again. :)

I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary. Same goes for other people, of course. So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small. Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today. I've been posting these since December 2007. If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere. Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this? Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience. Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday? I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt. :)

Our new puppy managed to get up on the stove and eat over half the cream puffs I had made for dessert. Fortunately she left enough that we each got a couple!

hahahaha It's good that you've a sense of humor about it. ;)

Congrats on the new puppy!

A bouquet of white and pink hydrangeas and having dinner with friends tomorrow are making me smile :)

Beautiful icon! And SO good to see you. I've missed you. *hugs*

Flowers and friends are definitely smile-worthy. How was the dinner?

It's nice to see a post from you! Your Arrested Development moment was my favorite thing about that season too. So hilarious.

I've been occupied with school, which is going well, and my health, which has been going less well. But I saw a new doctor today & started two new medications, and so my smile today is that I'm feeling hopeful they may help. Fingers crossed!

GOB kills me. I still love his Final Countdown moments from previous seasons. BTW, what did you think of this season's final episode? I don't want to spoil you if you haven't seen it...

Rach, I've thought of you -- and popped into your journal very sporadically. I have my fingers crossed for you. Always. School? Man, I have been away too long. COngrats on being back in school! That's awesome. As for your health, I hope that just continues to get easier and better. I hate that you've suffered so much. *hugs*

I love everything about Gob. He's easily my favorite. I think my favorite bit of his from the original seasons was the "COME ON!"-expensive suit one.

I thought the final ep felt a little abrupt at the end, honestly, and my mind was kind of reeling from all the threads coming together. But overall I still really enjoyed the season as a whole. What did you think?

And thanks. *hugs you back*

Hi, dear. So good to see you here. Think of you often.

I'm spending some time with a dear friend this weekend, one that I haven't been able to have some good one on one time in a while. So I'm excited and looking forward to that.

D!!!! I hope things are better for you. I got the sense that you've had some troubles... *hugs* Wonderful to see you. Truly. I've thought of you often, too. I need to catch up on everyone's specifics...

How was your wkend with your friend? I hope it was as wonderful as you'd expected it would be. :)

Hi. Things are better. Getting better every day, I hope. I have, I have. :o) Hugs to you.

My weekend was wonderful. Filled with farmer's market, adventures, stamping, good food, good friends, good movies. Just what I needed.

Yay! That's terrific. Funny how restorative just one good weekend can be. :)

*hugs* Glad to see you back around LJ and doing well :)

Let's see... Yesterday as well as last Saturday we had barbecues at the beach. It's been lovely, taking some time just to relax each week.

Also, kid giggles are the absolute best thing in the world. Condensed joy.

Ren!!! I'm glad you're alive! (You know what I mean. I hope.) *g* *hugs*

Oh, I'm jealous of your beach BBQs. They sound delightful.

"Condensed joy." YES. That is it exactly. *files it away*
