Writing Exercises (1/7/08)
Writing exercises can be a great way to loosen up or even find a whole story, poem, article, or journal entry, so I thought it would be fun to post some from time to time.  So here are a couple:

1)  Write about a lie that you (or a character) told.

2)  Listen to this song.  Then write for at least ten minutes.  Try not to go back and edit while you're writing.

3)  Stare at this image for a little while.  Then write.

If you'd like to share some exercises or prompts of your own, feel free to comment on this post.  Or if you write something in response to this exercise and want to share it, comment or send me a link.  I would, of course, love to see what you wrote.  But you're not obligated to share.  In other words, do whatever you want with these.  I just hope they prove useful for someone.

Oh! Thank you for this. I'm a non-existant writer and I really want to change that so I think these'd be a good place for me to start. :)

You're welcome, Sheeba! Let me know if any of them work for you. :)

Nice idea! I ended up with a very short bit of something, if you'd like to see.

Thanks. I thought prompts might prove useful; I know they've helped me. I'm running over to read and comment on your response now. Thank you for your willingness to share it with me. :)

#3 isn't working for me, I'm just seeing a URL.

I really like that first prompt, and I think I'm gonna have to take it and run.

Thanks for the list, though. =]
