Wednesday Smiles
I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the squeeing over Bones.  Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

Please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the excellent latte you had on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I'm going to try to post this every Wednesday for myself, and if you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

If you feel weird about doing this in public, please comment anonymously.  I'm setting this entry to screen anon comments; I won't unscreen any anon comments unless you give me permission.  And please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

I'll be back with my response.

I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

My stepfather's birthday is today!!

Hope you and your family have fun today. :)

For me these days would be Amy MacDonald's music, so lovable, so great to listen to, makes me feel happy just the way when I discovered Paolo Nutini. Those Scottish people know how to sing ;)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tR7SdaXHPH4 --> Love this song.

I believe you linked her in another comment. Thank you for that; I went and listened. and now I am in love. :) As for Paolo Nutini, he is wonderful, too. I don't know why, but I think Jenny, Don't Be Hasty is an extremely sexy song. *g*

What would we do without music?

I have new header!!! I like it so much and I happy for this.
They are so handsome and their love is eternal *lol*

Oh, oh, oh. I forget it... The encouraging news about the end of the strike.

My little one is swiftly becoming a big girl; we ordered her a toddler bed today, and it just sort of hit home.

She's growing up, and I get the privilege of watching.

When did you become heart and shoulder? Heather Nova reference?

How bittersweet that Emma now needs a toddler bed. *sigh*

Yesterday was Mardi Gras here in Louisiana, so naturally, we had the say off. That in itself was a reason to smile!

Um, let's see. I saw 27 Dresses on Saturday, and though it will not be winning any kinds of awards, ever, it made me laugh. Plus James Marsden is just a thousand different kinds of adorable. And, and, AND! I got a kickass pair of shoes for under 10 bucks.

Three things to smile about; that's awesome. :) And as long as you were entertained, it doesn't matter if the movie won any awards. As for the shoes, congrats. Bargains are always fun.

I get to go shopping. Although it's not as glamorous as what celebrities get to do, it's a highlight for me. I never have the money to go shopping for fun.

*hugs Target and Wal-Mart*

Woot! I hope you find something fun. :)

Last night (at the longest banquet of all time), my roommate and I were seated with the guy that runs the Peabody Awards. We chatted about Lost, FNL, and so on, and when he left he said, "I just love the way you two talk about television." Ha! Contact and impression made!

*smiles at your icon*

That's fantastic news. Peabody Awards... Does that mean you're in broadcasting?

Came home yesterday afternoon to find Season 2 of Bones on DVD in my mail box. Yay!

PS - Recently stumbled across you on the 206 Bones comm (where I lurk but hope to actually post someday)and wanted to say I have been enjoying your fic immensely, Come Undone in particular, and I'll prolly be friending and comment spamming you later today. Just sayin' :)

First of all, welcome. I'm glad you commented, and I encourage you to de-lurk at 206_bones, too. The people there are generally friendly and fun. :)

Came home yesterday afternoon to find Season 2 of Bones on DVD in my mail box. Yay!

That would make me smile, too. Enjoy!

I'm glad you're enjoying my stories; thank you for letting me know that. Now I have something else to smile about myself.

My German test went better than I thought it would. Also, I have candy.

Congrats on the German test. :) And yay for candy.

My friend Liesbeth who lives in Georgia suprised me and came and saw me on Monday night after being so sick and having surgery i was so excited to see her!!

Oh, that's lovely, Misty. I hope you're recuperating well. *sends good thoughts your way*

the weather is great out. snowing, but not too cold!

Enjoy it. :)

Here it's in the low 70s, which is really weird for winter. But I'm not complaining!

finding already-cheap dvd's, then remembering that i still have gift certificates, ending with paying $9.86 for a season set. also, starting shooting on my movie tomorrow!!

Nothing like finding money, which is what gift certificates essentially are.

also, starting shooting on my movie tomorrow!!

Sounds fun; congrats. :)

Read on exam answer today:
He wanted to be genital with the girl.

Out of the mouths....
