"Where are we going?"

"You'll see," he replies. As they walk, the plastic bag swings from Booth's wrist in a careless rhythm. Insects chirp in a nighttime symphony that makes him want to hum along.

Brennan's footsteps halt once they turn the corner. "What are we doing here?"

"Swinging, Bones." At her quizzical look, he snags her wrist with his free hand, tugging her onto the playground.

They each take a swing. Booth pushes off, feeling the day's tension flow out of him.

For several minutes they move in silence, listening to the creak of metal, each lost in their own thoughts.

The warm spring air flows over Booth, and he sighs before finally stopping. He pulls sandwiches from the bag--eggplant for her, ham for him. Though his stomach growls, he's content to watch Brennan for a while longer. Her legs stretch on the upswing, her hair streaming behind her in a dark ribbon.

"Is this a date?" she asks eventually, gaze still turned skyward.

He kicks at the ground. "Don't know. Do you want it to be?"

"I don't know."

"Why don't we both think about it?"

"All right," she replies, smiling, her eyes gleaming silver in the moonlight.

Author's Note:  Ok, so someone just reminded me of Angela and Jack's swing date, at which point I said, "Doh!" and admitted that I hadn't even remembered that as I was writing this.  So, the joke's on me.  ;)  In any case, take this double drabble for what it's worth.  Booth and Brennan are at the playground, and they're swinging, like Angela and Jack did, but I think it's a bit different.  I don't think I wrote it verbatim.  Besides, this isn't a date, is it?  It's just Booth and Brennan hanging out after he drags her out of the lab.  *g*

Thank you, Asra. *squeezes you*

And I keep on doing the same, I don't like reviewing on FF.net so I come over here.. and yes, I admit it. I'm a lurker!
But I think that I reviewed some of the firsts chapters. I don't know why I stopped...Anyway I liked the detail of Booth giving her an eggplant sandwich to her. It's so sweet.

very, very nice :)

ps. yeah right, it's not a date... like when she cooked the amazing mac'n'cheese for him lol it's like any other day. Just an innocent swing at the playground. :P

Thanks, Sofi. :) Comments are wonderful, but it's ok if you lurk sometimes--lots of people do that!

Glad you noticed/liked the mention of the eggplant sandwich.

Oh dear. Booth, Bones and your little dribbles are going to be the death of me, I'm sure.

That was really sweet.

i love swings! <3
and that's defenitely not a date *roles eyes*
sweet drabble! =)

Of course it's not a date. *g*

Thank you for reading and commenting, Kiska.

So cute! I haven't seen the episode where Angela and Jack go on date swinging so I love this :)

Bones come back! We have like a month and half.

Nope. Not a date. No siree...

A date would imply that there are reciprocal feelings and there are none of those around, are there?

*snicker* Ok. So I'm a crap liar :P

No! ;)

I am a big believer in swing therapy, so yeah.

We could all use a little swing therapy. :)

RE the swing: I figured that Booth was thinking, if it worked for Jack, it might work for me. :-)

Poor Booth: he's spent much of this season wanting to impress Brennan so badly, and finally did it at the end of TBitTC. I almost giggled watching TKitG, thinking that Booth was thinking, if she pecks me on the cheek for giving Russ some time with his family, what'll she do if I go all out to help him. [teehee: oh Booth: keep working at it...] :-)

*g* Naughty Booth/Makd.

Even if it was a date they would never call it that. Great header too. (=

Thank you, Foxy. They're in denial with a capital "D." ;)

*grin* You know the title of this drabble made me get a song stuck in my head?
*wanders off humming*

And lol, they're going to think about whether it's a date or not. I love these two.

A Van Morrison song? ;)

They're silly and beautiful.

aw swing dates are awesome :)

This reminded me of this before I could think of Angela and Hodgins. I don't know why, I think it evoked me the same feelings. The scene I'm talking about is from minute 2:12 more or less.

Great work, I loved it.

I can see why it reminded you of that scene. One of these days I'll watch X-Files from the beginning...

Awwwwwww!! :D
Your drabbles save me from this waiting :D

I aim to please, Sara. :D Thank you!

Even if it is similar, it's still cute. :D

Thanks. I'm glad you thought so. :)
