Wednesday Smiles
Perfect Imperfections - unexpectedbox
I mostly post fannish things in this journal, but I think it's easy to forget that there is a real person behind the fic and the Bones commentary Same goes for other people, of course.   So I'd like to take a minute to acknowledge our humanity.

If you'd like to do so, please tell me something that made you smile this week, no matter how small.  Could be the snuggle your dog gave you on Monday, the song you discovered on Tuesday, or the way your significant other smiled at you today.  I've been posting these since December.  If you feel up to it, please respond—here, in your own journal, or elsewhere.   Feel free to post more than one thing and/or respond to other comments.

Why am I doing this?  Because I think it is far too easy to get caught up in the stresses, big and small, that we all experience.   Being able to focus on one positive thing, however small, can give one a valuable sense of perspective.

Why Wednesday?  I figure a little mid-week cheer can't hurt.  :)

Please feel free to comment even if we're not "friends."

I don't always get a chance to respond to all your smiles, but I read every single one.  They all leave me feeling a little bit lighter than I did before.  So thank you!  I hope you're all having a good week, my friends, and if you're not, I hope it improves.

My smiles:

+ Bruised, battered, but not yet broken pilots.  [sigh]

+ Glorious weather.

+ Half of a really good chocolate muffin.  Yum.

I always think about this post when Wednesday arrives.

- Weather is warm, finally, and today I went out to work dressed in jeans, and pink-and-yellow t-shirt and shoes. Pink-and-yellow makes me happy.

- I finally found a powder soy milk brand that I'm able to enjoy and I'll never have to put those 'gross!' faces when I drink coffe at work.

- It seems that I'll be able to be in London the day of the XF2 premiere. Fandom squee and holidays with friends. The UK is my second home. ;) More than smiling, this London thing has me all excited.

- London, Emily and David mixed in some pictures I saw today. Smiley and fainty, that was me.

Chocolate muffin... *makes that Homer Simpson thing about food*.

Many Wednesday hugs.

I have a job! I get to spend three months working with Girl Scouts at an amazing mountain camp in California and am currently somewhere beyond excited. :D

Hope you're having a good week...

Thank you! (I know how much you love to use that pic... *g*)

After kicking the ruling world champion's ass, the vice-world champion's ass and another two-nil win last night, we (because while we're winning it's always the entire nation) are getting our mojo working at the European Championship soccer, and it is my guilty pleasure--as an educated person who knows very well that there are much more important things in the world--to get all excited about the glorious sillyness of 22 fit men in short shorts and tight t-shirts running after...a ball.

1. I went to bed at four this morning, got up at 10 to watch Will & Grace(yes, I am aware how strange I am to wake up for reruns). And then for the first time in 30598340582305 forevers, when it went off, I was able to fall back asleep and take a nap. Usually, once I'm up, I'm up. So today, taking a nap made me happy.

2. My cousins Rebecca and Sarah will be in town Friday night and Saturday day. Even though I just spent a week with them in the mountains and then stopped at their parents house and spent some time with them afterwards, I'm still looking forward to it. Out of all my cousins on my dad's side, I'm closest to them.

I am now officially out of school!! Summer, here I come! Yay!!
I am SO happy that I'll be able to sleep in tomorrow! (I'm definitely NOT a morning person) ;)

Chocolate muffin sounds really good right now....:)

Hope you're enjoying your week!

I am now the mother of an 18 year old.

That's good enough.

Easy for me, this week:

I finished the book. I finished the book. I finished the book. I finished the book.

Am I being repetitious?

Also: read some Bones spoilers that were phenomenal.

Also: good news from just about everyone on the flist.

1. I finally gave some gifts that I've been hanging on to FOREVER! to the people that I got them for. =-0
2. Playing Wii.
3. Dinner: grilled cheese sandwich.

I'm going to see Eddie Izzard on Tuesday! *flails*

1. I am in Hawaii right now. It is bliss.

2. My school messed up my schedule a couple days ago and they just e-mailed me so I actually get the classes I wanted!

3. Seeing the pictures of Emily and David in London! I so want season 4 now.

1. Finally the summer is here (I hate cold weather)

2. This weekend I'm going to the beach with my friends.

3. David and Emily are in London. London, dude!!! I can't go there but… London!!! It's so near.

David and Emily are in London. London, dude!!! I can't go there but… London!!! It's so near.

This is so something I am smiling about this week too - and they are so near yet so far! *curses pesky work and family commitments*

But it is nearer you than me, isn't it? :)
I'm sorry than you can't go to London *pouts*

Right now I am sat in work in Cardiff, so according to multimap, and assuming they are still filming near the embankment, they are 151.13 miles away from me LOL!

Is it completely sad to just be glad to share the same landmass/timzone as them?!! ;)

Cardiff!!! Torchwood!!! Yay!!!

I'm about 800 miles away from them but, yes, I'd be content with be in the same continent xP

(Sorry for the spam, Lerdo)

One day late but I did discover this smile yesterday:

I have been busy trying to lose weight in earnest having suddenly realised my youngest child will soon turn three.. no longer will the 'just had a baby' excuse wash. Anyway, it's my mum's wedding on the 28th so I thought good target for a start. Yesterday I tried on the dress I bought a month ago and I shrunk out of it! Not best pleased about the waste of money but yay to dropping a dress size... and so to shop! (Oh, the hardship)

Good mark in my exam today and going out for pizza with my friends :)

A day late (and a dollar short), but my smiles all week have been the aftereffects of a beautiful REM concert hangover. It was such a magical, perfect night and I can't stop being happy about it (not that I'm trying).

Also, a belly full of delicious sushi lunch doesn't hurt!

a little late to the game, but...one of my best friends is visiting! hence me being a bit behind on lj-ness. we're cooking all sorts of delicious food for the roomies, i let her drag me to the kennedy space center today, and tomorrow we do the disney parks. when she leaves, she has about another 2 weeks before she goes to california, then when i'm done in florida i'm going to south korea, so who knows when we'll see each other again, but its nice to get to enjoy this time with her now, because shes one of the most awesome people i know.
